When Van Gogh turned 16, his parents sent him to a school a short distance away. But he did not have much interest in study. So, his parents sent him to the house of one of his relatives who ran a gallery.It was only after he got there that he had some sort of fascination with paintings. During the last 6 years of his life, Van Gogh painted about 700 sketches and 800 oil paintings called Oil Paintings. But the horror of it was that he was only able to sell one of those paintings. According to a historical record, the landlord bought the house for rent.His depression may have been one of the reasons why his paintings were not seen by the world. On one occasion when his depression increased he took out a knife and cut off one of his ears. This is true even though it is very strange to hear. He often went to and from the hospital to increase his depression. He spent the rest of his life in tragedy and in 1890 sadly sought the end of his life.
