Louis Pasteur – Father of Microbiology

From the earliest days of human history, there have been no wars or wars in any part of the world. Tens of thousands of lives may have been lost. However, it is an undeniable fact that the number of people killed in natural disasters is much higher than the number killed in wars.History has shown that the number of people who die from various diseases is higher than the number who die in wars. Nature invades mankind through diseases. This is why physicians and researchers who protect humans from these diseases are considered equal to the Lord.Michael Hart, the grandfather who wrote the book ‘One Hundred Important Men’ in History, mentions that his role in the medical field was far greater than theirs. He discovered drugs for deadly diseases such as measles, rabies, and the antidote to anthrax, and invented a method of disinfecting milk. Many vaccines and drugs were discovered over time based on his findings. He is the world-renowned French chemist Louis Pasteur.

Louis Pasteur was born on December 27, 1822, in Dole, eastern France. He has been patriotic and passionate about nature since childhood. For Louis, science and painting were his favorite fields. At the age of 16, Lewis graduated with a degree in science. It is a fact that Louis, who was to make a great change in the field of chemistry in the future, got only average marks in chemistry at university. It is a well-known fact that if you have fresh skim milk, it will ferment in a few hours. But does anyone know how and why milk is fermented? Did you think? … Lewis discovered that the bacteria in the milk ferment the germs.By doing this he proved that milk and dairy products such as yogurt and ghee can be preserved for a long time without spoiling. The process of destroying germs in milk and preserving it is called ‘pasteurization’ after the pastor who invented it.This method is widely used today and around the world. The medical world has realized that the discovery of germs is very important. Boiling milk kills germs. Thus, a cure for tuberculosis was found.

Lewis did his research on rabies caused by rabies. As a result of Lewis’ research, mankind received a vaccine for this deadly disease.A historical record states that he once put a tube in a dog’s mouth and sucked its saliva out of his mouth, knowing that only germs were present in the saliva of rabies dogs. What would have been his condition if the saliva had gone into his mouth unknowingly? He was able to find many life-saving drugs because he fought so fearlessly and disrespected his life. The Pasteur institute was founded in Paris in 1888 when the drug for rabies was discovered. Louis’ basic policy was to find vaccines against diseases such as typhoid fever and polio, which are almost eliminated by many safe vaccines.Statistics show that the life expectancy of the world’s population has doubled since the middle of the 19th century.Lewis’ medical achievements not only saved lives but also prolong human lives. The French people have always been justifiably proud that their grandfather was their countryman who, through his scientific discovery, removed the misery and suffering of all the peoples of the world.According to a survey conducted in France, the people of France have given Louis the first place among the best citizens that France has ever created. In that list, the hero Napoleon is given the fifth place.

Many lives have been saved by the medical role of a single man named Lewis, numbering in the millions. The great scientist who saved the lives of millions of people thus lived only 73 years. He was working till his last days. Do you know what advice that grandfather gave to his students?!… Keep working … keep working … keep working and don’t just stop working for any reason.Louis passed away on September 28, 1895, having done many immeasurable benefits to mankind. To this day, the world does not see a scientist who has made as much contribution to the medical world as Louis after him. That is why the world praises him as the ‘Father of Medicine’ and the ‘Savior of Mankind’.His fame is enduring not only in the soil but also in the sky. The craters known as Mars and the grates on the moon are named after Lewis. The root cause of the disease is human disability. However, Lewis was the one who showed that not only nature but also the Himalayas can be conquered if we try with confidence. Poet B. Vijay says, “Fingers are the key to the one who gets up, and his legs are completely locked to the one who is tired.”It was as a result of standing up against nature that Louis got the keys to curing the diseases that afflicted mankind. It is the duty of nature to guide the one who stands up with self-confidence and perseverance like him to achieve their desired goal.
